Underglaze Transfers
Explore the possibilities of surface designs on clay through the underglaze transfer process. Cut, stack and arrange colored shapes, drawings and patterns to create designs and motifs that are abstract, realistic, or somewhere in between. Think collage on clay! We’ll use molds to form bowls of all sizes, then apply our transfers to clay. No experience needed. All materials are included.
Children 10 and older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Parents with children should register for 2 spots. Class is limited to 7 participants.
Please check our FAQ’s page for additional information on the studio and read our Cancelation Policy prior to booking!
This is a one day, 2.5 hour class. You’ll pick up your finished pieces 2-3 weeks after the class.

Meet the Instructors
Jody Symula earned her MFA from the Painting and Printmaking department at VCUarts in 2006 and has recently returned to clay, a love that she had as an undergraduate student in Northern California. Through the use of underglaze transfers, she is able to translate her painting and printmaking vocabulary and aesthetic to functional ceramics which has become a core tenant of her current studio practice.
