Community
At the heart of Hand / Thrown is the community that surrounds our walls and is within them. We make it a priority to partner with local organizations, host open access studio days and make space for everyone to join in on the fun.
We host quarterly community days in the studio, where we invite you to come over, check out the space, say hey to a neighbor and make something with clay free of charge. Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on the next Community Day at H/T.
Brookland Park has a bustling community of businesses and neighbors that come together for festivals along the Boulevard each year. The Taste of Brookland Park event keeps us busy outdoors with magnet making for the kids (and adults!) and brings the community together for good food and fun supplied by local vendors.
Community engagement is of the utmost importance to Hand / Thrown. We’ve partnered with Youth Life of Richmond and A Better Day Than Yesterday for one day handbuilding workshops and provided after school clay programs with Next Up. If you have an organization that would benefit from some clay time, let us know! We’d love to partner with you.
Have a fundraising idea that needs support? Email us at community@handthrown.studio! We love hosting fundraising events for causes that need uplifting. We recently hosted one for the wildfires in Australia and were able to raise over $1,000. We provide the materials and the space, you bring the creativity!
