Shelf of Curiosities

Shelf of Curiosities

$65.00

The perfect shelf for all your perfect mementos.

In this 2.5 hour handbuilding workshop, we’ll use slabs and coils to create our own curiosity shelves! These make for a beautiful display for small, precious collectibles. For centuries, people have been collecting things that amaze them, remind them, and fill them with curiosity. In this class participants will have the opportunity to arrange a shelf that is uniquely suitable for their precious tokens.

Beginners welcome. This class is best suited for adults. Class is limited to 7 participants.

Please check our FAQ’s page for additional information on the studio and read our Cancelation Policy prior to booking!

This is a one day, 2.5 hour class. You’ll pick up your finished pieces 2-3 weeks after the class.

Meet the Instructors

Haley Renee is an interdisciplinary artist and has been handbuilding for 11 years. She has a BA in History and Middle Eastern Studies, and licensure in Art Education. Her research and work center around censorship, representation, and imperialism.

Lindsay Wood (she/her) began her clay adventure back in 2015 when she took her first ceramics class at the Visual Arts Center in Richmond and has been hooked ever since! Using handbuilding methods, she focuses on both functional and unique forms that are then painted and carved using a variety of surface decoration techniques. Her wares are carved with imagery reflective of her inspirations, joys, memories and nature. Lindsay teaches classes through local nonprofits Art 180 and Art on Wheels, and is a member and teacher at Carved in Mud Studios. She believes that art has healing powers, and can touch people’s lives by reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging self-expression.
